Any money toward Sunitha is a Gift.
I just wanted to clarify, because this is the first time I have tried raising money on my own for a cause like this:
Any money given toward Sunitha's cause is a Gift. It is Not a donation.
A donation implies that you can receive a tax deduction when filing your taxes.
You cannot report any gift that you give on your taxes.
Since any money given to this cause is a Gift, you cannot report it on your taxes for a deduction or anything of that sort.
I just wanted to clarify. And I thank each person who does help out.

Sunitha, an extraordinary woman
Save Sunitha and her 108 dogs!
Sunitha Christie is a living saint.
Shelives alone with her elderly mother in Southern India, in the city ofSiva Kasi. In a society where animals, even dogs and cats, are notworth a second glance and starvation and cruelty are rampant, shestands out against it.
Sunitha is 28 years old and hasdedicated her young life to saving abused, starving, and deformed dogs. She currently shelters 108 dogs, spending all her time and little moneycaring for them.
She has always been in need of support tocontinue her mission to save Southern India's dogs, but to date hasreceived ridicule and hostility from her community. All her familyexcept her mother have disowned her. The only support she has receivedis a single anonymous contributor who delivers 20 kilos of rice a monthto her doorstep and leaves, and a few local vets who occasionally agreeto help her spay and neuter her dogs.
Sunitha's situation isdesperate now. Her landlord is evicting her from her home, onto thestreet, along with her mother, and every one of her rescued dogs. Ifthis happens all the dogs will return to the streets and to miserablefates of starvation, cruelty, and death. Sunitha and her mother's fateswill be unknown. She has little time left. She is one of the few rareindividuals dedicated to relieving the dire situation that dogs face inIndia, and if she cannot find a new home she will not be able tocontinue her work.
The property she is looking at is small andhumble, not much more than 1/10 of an acre. I am looking to raise asmuch as possible for her, as it will help her buy food, medicalsupplies, and other necessities for the dogs. With this money she canestablish a secure home and base from which to continue her work, andfrom there I want to try to help her reach out to other organizationsto network and build support.
What will happen with the money:
1. Purchase a home
2. Purchase much needed medical supplies/food
3. Build a proper shelter within the property for the dogs
4. Try to start building an organization -the first of its kind in Southern India!- to rescue animals in need of help.
Sunithabelieves her life and the lives of her dogs are over- that she willliterally die in the street with them. Help me prove to her that thereis hope!
